Under the leadership of Herbert Dardik, MD, the Vascular Surgery Service provides patients with medical and surgical expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease. These include protocols pioneered at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center before they were adopted at hospitals throughout the world.
The Vascular Surgery Service is particularly known for the development of limb salvage procedures using graft materials and methods to augment bypass durability. In addition, the Service's expertise in carotid artery surgery for stroke prevention is well known, as are minimally invasive Interventional Radiology procedures such as beating heart surgery, balloon angioplasty and stenting often performed in patients with neurovascular, kidney and lower limb diseases. And recently developed endovascular aortic surgery for aneurysms is now a vital component of aortic surgery at Englewood Hospital. Following diagnosis and treatment, comprehensive rehabilitation services are designed to promote rapid and full recovery of a patient recovering from surgery, a stroke or as a regimen undertaken instead of surgery.
